Linking up to the alarm centre
Remote monitoring is a monitoring process done at a distance from specialised centres through a telephone network. Alarm systems are initially installed to output a local alarm signal. They are not set up to warn the appropriate interveners when there’s an alarm.
The alarm centre’s interveners receive the signals from the alarm systems, decode them and act according to established guidelines with the client. They warn the appropriate response service (police, firemen, paramedics, etc.). Video monitoring systems may be hooked up to an alarm centre. With the new DVR video monitoring technology, it is possible to send a short video clip to the alarm centre when an alarm signal is detected. The operators at the centre view the clip before intervening.
